What is WebBasedMail and how does it work?

ANSWER:
WebBasedMail allows you to send and receive your email from any location with just a browser and an Internet connection! To pick up your email using our WebBasedMail software, simply go to http://www.webbasedmail.com and login with your email address and the password that you chose when you signed up.

Web based email has its advantages, especially for people who travel. Email can be collected by simply visiting a website, negating the need for an email client, or to logon from home. Wherever a public terminal with Internet access exists — from the library to a café to the airport or hotel — one can check, send and receive email quickly and easily.

Another advantage of web based email is that it provides an alternate address allowing you to reserve your ISP address for personal use. If you would like to subscribe to a newsletter, enter a drawing, register at a website, participate in chats, or send feedback to a site, a web based email address is the perfect answer. It will keep non-personal mail on a server for you to check when you wish, rather than filling up your private email box.

Web-Based Email is an Internet-based email system that lets you send and receive email messages from a Web browser. All you need to use Web-Based Email is an Internet connection and a supported browser.

You can back up your Web-Based Email account by downloading your inbox to another email client(POP3), such as Microsoft Outlook or Gmail. By setting up your Web-Based Email account with another email client and leaving a copy on the server, you can use the POP3 account to archive messages from your inbox.

For detailed instructions on setting up a POP3 account with popular email clients, see Tutorials, and select the walkthrough for the email client you want to use.

NOTE: This method only downloads the contents of your inbox. If you want to archive messages from subfolders, you must first move them into your inbox.

To Move Messages to Your Inbox
Log in to your Web-Based Email account.
Open the subfolder you want to move messages from.
Select the messages you want to move.
From the Move to Folder dropdown list, select INBOX.
The messages are moved to your Inbox.

How do I access my Web-Based Email account?

You can log on to your Web-Based Email account from your Web browser by going to the Web address for your account. The Web address is the same as your domain name, except you replace "www" with "email". For example, if your Web address is "www.coolexample.com", your email address is "email.coolexample.com".

If you have forgotten your email password or want to make changes to your email account, use the Email Control Center. For more information see Editing Your Email Address Settings.

How to use web based email addresses
You can use either the webmail interface or an email client. If you need help configuring email clients, please visit the step-by-step guides for configuring MS outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird.

You can easily access your WebMail interface by just visiting: http://www.yourdomain.com/webmail, where 'yourdomain.com' is your actual domain name. If this is not working for you, it might be possible that your ISP is blocking the access to non-standard ports accessed through SSL connection. In this case, please use: http://webmail.servername.com, where 'servername.com' should be the name of your server (e.g. http://webmail.siteground121.com).

Please use the full e-mail account username to login to the webmail interface or when setting your e-mail client software. Example: user@yourdomain.com instead of user.

Once you login, you can choose between two webmail clients: Horde and SquirrelMail. It is up to you to choose which one you like better.

If you login to your webmail through the Webmail icon on your cPanel main page, you will be logged in with the default system email account.

Please do not use the default email account, because very often emails send from the system email accounts are going to the Junk folders.

In order to use your email you have to create another email account with the same or different username.

To login to one of your added accounts from your cPanel, you should go to Email Accounts and then click the Access Webmail icon next to the account you wish to access. Then you should type in the password corresponding to the account and click on [Login].

How to send e-mail messages?
You can easily send email messages via the webmail client you have chosen. Just find the [New message] button in Horde or the [Compose] button in Squirrelmail and you will be able to start writing your message.

Make sure to SAVE your message if it is too long or you want to write it for a longer period of time. The web mail program may drop the connection and you might lose your email.
